How to Adjust Notification Display Time in Windows

You can configure how long notifications appear in Windows using Accessibility settings or via Group Policy.

Option 1: Using Windows Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Visual Effects.

  2. Under Dismiss notifications after this amount of time, select the duration you want notifications to display.

  3. All notifications will now show for the selected time.

Note: Notifications will display even if the screen is locked, but will not appear if the screen is in sleep mode.

Option 2: Using Group Policy / MSI Installer

For network-wide control, you can set the notification display time for all machines using Group Policy or within your MSI installer:

  • Navigate to:
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility

  • Modify the DWORD value: MessageDuration

  • Set the value in seconds for how long notifications should appear
